Editorial standards

How we report.

Readers should be able to understand where a story comes from, what supports it, and whether anyone involved has a material interest in the subject.

Selection and evidence

We consider a subject’s relevance to Athens, the significance of the work, and the evidence available. We check factual claims and distinguish reporting from opinion. A prominent name or a commercial relationship is not enough to justify coverage.

Sources and attribution

We identify sources where appropriate and credit contributed work. Permissions and rights must be agreed before publication. Confidential source material stays outside the website’s publishing system.

Conflicts of interest

Material relationships must be disclosed. When the editorial approver has a material conflict, an independent reviewer must assess the story. Without that review, we hold publication.

Advertising

Paid placements are labeled. Sponsors do not control story selection, conclusions, recognition, rankings, or corrections.

Corrections

We review evidence of factual errors. Warranted corrections appear with the affected story; material changes explain what changed.
